Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was appointed as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, including budget reform, tax reform, and the Iran Contra scandal. She travelled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
